Kate Beverly Marsh is one of the students at Blackwell Academy in the game Life is Strange. She is a nice and kind-hearted, rather shy teenager who doesn't like to be in the center of attention. She's also constantly bullied for her conservative views on sex and religion, and is a strong Christian. After someone records and uploads a video that goes viral because of uncharacteristic behavior (due to Kate getting drugged), Kate becomes very depressed and thinks that the spread of the video is a form of punishment to weaken her faith. Thanks to this event, she stops smiling and constantly looks worried and sad.
The main character of the game, Max, really likes Kate and makes sure to watch out for her during rough times. According to Max, Kate is beautiful and very friendly. They used to spend time together by going out on tea sessions, enjoying their friendship. After the event however, she stays in her dormitory and mostly sulks. She has a hard time doing artworks and stops playing the violin fully.
Kate was born into a heavily Christian conservative family. Her father Richard is a preacher in the Church. She has two younger sisters, one of them the 10-year-old Lynn Marsh. She doesn't drink alcohol and wages an abstinence campaign at her school.
She has a black and white pet bunny named Alice in her dorm room.
