Piers Nivans was a new character who appeared as a support member to Chris Redfield in the game Resident Evil 6. He was a combat operative for the North American Branch of the BSAA, assigned to the Special Operations Unit. According to his file, Piers' family has a great history in the military dating back to his great-grandfather. This made Piers want to follow this tradition and graduated at the top of his class from an elite military academy.
At some point, Nivans felt like he needed a greater challenge and met Chris Redfield who was very impressed with his skills as a sniper. Hearing that, he eventually became a member of Alpha Team as Chris' second-in-command.
During various missions, he managed to meet other well known characters such as Rebecca Chambers, Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin. Alpha Team also got in contact with Ada Wong.
Being the young ace of the BSAA, he was a naturally gifted marksman, much like his squad leader. Due to his extreme sharpness and concentration, he was known as "the man who never misses a target". He is characterized as an individual with a strong sense of responsibility and an astute discernment, being able to influence his teammates into the correct course in the battlefield.
During a tragic meeting with a deadly B.O.W. named Haos, he attacked Piers, destroying his arm by crushing it. In order to save his commander, he infected himself with a virus, right into the wound. That gave him the capability to release massive quantities of bio-electricity through the prongs. After defeating Haos, they rush to the escape pods. However, Piers refuses to follow Chris, pushes him into the pod and ejects it. Chris leaves for the shore, forced to see his friend die.
