On the isolated island of Fortuna, a religious order venerates the legendary dark knight Sparda as a god. Nero, a young demon hunter and member of the Order, watches in horror as the infamous devil hunter Dante storms in and cuts down the Order's high priest before the assembled congregation. At that very moment, a horde of demons descends on the city, endangering everyone, including Nero's beloved Kyrie.
